Mintee Kalra Studio creates places shaped by historical design traditions, architectural context, and the living ecology of each site. The work is grounded, immersive, and built to endure.

The practice spans landscape, exterior, and interior design. Each commission is approached as its own complete proposition, guided always by the same question: what does this place want to be?

Each space is designed to be both looked upon and inhabited from within. There is room for repose, for gathering, for the in-between moments, a composition attuned to the full register of daily life. Projects are worked with equal precision and intuition, honoring the complexity of factors that allow a space to deepen over time.

The studio holds to a generational standard of craft, where materiality and ecological care are inseparable values. Across landscape and interior alike, every selection, from hand-chosen stone and living plant to finish materials and furnishings, is considered with equal care. Sustainability is not an addendum. It is embedded into every layer of the process.

Whether a dedicated garden commission or a complete residential project spanning interior and grounds, the work is held to the same standard throughout.

Mintee Kalra

Founder and Principal

Mintee Kalra grew up making her way through redwood preserves and national parks near her Bay Area home, learning early that the right space changes how you carry yourself within it.

She is a Los Angeles-based designer working across landscape, exterior, and interior design. Her practice is built on a simple premise: that a well-resolved space should feel inevitable, as though it could not have been otherwise.

Her path to design moves through fashion. Trained at Central Saint Martins, the London College of Fashion, and the University of Westminster, she spent over two decades working across London, Paris, Milan, New Delhi, New York, and Los Angeles. Her work appeared in Vogue and Vanity Fair and contributed to the Alexander McQueen retrospective Savage Beauty at both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum. That career gave her an archival approach to reference, a sensitivity to material and texture, and a precise understanding of how people inhabit space.

The studio she founded works at the full threshold of residential design, from planting palettes and hardscape programs to interior specification and material selection. Each project is taken selectively and worked deeply, shaped by the specific logic of its site, its climate, and the life being lived within it.
